Gunshot Death of Police Officer Under Investigation in Punjab
An Assistant Sub-Inspector of Punjab Police, identified as Joga Singh, was found dead with a gunshot wound on the Fatehgarh Churian-Majitha Road in Amritsar on Sunday morning. Police have launched an investigation and are probing multiple angles, including personal enmity and road rage.
An Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) of Punjab Police was found dead with a gunshot injury on the Fatehgarh Churian-Majitha Road in Amritsar, police officials said.
The deceased officer has been identified as Joga Singh. According to SSP Rural Sohail Mir, authorities received information about the body early Sunday morning, following which officials from Majitha police station reached the spot immediately.
After an initial examination, police confirmed that the officer had sustained a gunshot wound. The body was shifted to a civil hospital where forensic and technical teams began further examination and evidence collection.
Police stated that the incident took place on a busy road and investigators are exploring all possible motives, including personal rivalry, road rage, and other criminal angles. Officials added that updates would be shared as the investigation progresses.
Visuals from the scene showed police personnel and forensic teams inspecting the area where the officer’s body was recovered.
