Three Held for Killing Congress Leader and Lawyer Son in West Bengal’s Nadia
Police have arrested three people in connection with the killing of a local Congress leader and his lawyer son in West Bengal’s Nadia district after armed assailants intercepted their car and attacked them.
Police have arrested three persons in connection with the murder of a local Congress leader and his lawyer son in Nadia district of West Bengal, officials said on Sunday.
The victims were identified as Anisur Rahman, 50, and his son Abu Sufian, 24. Rahman was a local Congress leader, while his son was a lawyer.
According to police, the two men were returning home in their car at around 9.30 pm on Saturday when their vehicle was intercepted near the Nagadi railway gate in Nakashipara.
The location of the attack was around 200 metres from their residence.
The assailants allegedly opened fire at the vehicle before attacking Rahman and his son with sharp-edged weapons.
The police subsequently arrested three persons in connection with the double murder. Further details regarding the motive behind the attack and the identities of those arrested were not provided in the information available.
The incident has raised concerns in the area, while police are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the killings.
