Land Dispute Turns Violent in Jharkhand, Woman Killed and Stepsister Injured

A man allegedly attacked his stepbrother’s wife and stepsister with a pickaxe during a dispute over land in Jharkhand’s Garhwa district. The woman was critically injured in the attack, while police have begun investigating the incident.

GARHWA/DEOGHAR: A man allegedly attacked his stepbrother’s wife and stepsister with a pickaxe over a land dispute in Garhwa district, Jharkhand, on Saturday evening, police said.

According to Bardiha Police Station Officer-in-Charge Rishikesh Kumar Singh, the accused, identified as Lalmuni Singh, is the son of Hazari Singh’s first wife. Hazari Singh had married twice and had a daughter and a son, Munna Singh, from his second wife.

Police said Lalmuni Singh allegedly attacked Manita Devi (20), the wife of his stepbrother Munna Singh, with a pickaxe during the dispute. She sustained critical injuries in the assault. The accused allegedly also attacked his stepsister Lalita Devi (18) during the incident.

The incident reportedly took place in Sukhnadi village. Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the alleged attack and the dispute over the property.
