Murder and Extortion Accused Vainket Garg Lands in Delhi After Extradition
In a major breakthrough against organised crime, gangster Vainket Garg, who had fled India after jumping bail, was extradited from Georgia through coordinated efforts involving the CBI, Interpol, and Georgian authorities. He now faces multiple serious charges, including murder and extortion, in Haryana.
In a significant success for Indian law enforcement agencies, Vainket Garg, a 29-year-old gangster wanted in multiple criminal cases in Haryana, was extradited from Georgia and brought back to India on Thursday.
Upon his arrival at the Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi, Garg was taken into custody by the Haryana Police and escorted to the Special Task Force (STF) headquarters in Gurugram for further legal proceedings.
According to officials, Garg had been arrested earlier by the Haryana Police in connection with a range of serious offences, including murder, attempt to murder, extortion, organised crime, and the use of illegal firearms. However, after securing bail, he allegedly absconded and fled to Georgia to evade prosecution.
A spokesperson for the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) said the extradition was executed through close coordination between Indian and international agencies.
“At the request of Haryana Police, the CBI got a Red Notice published against the subject through Interpol. After the subject was geo-located and arrested by the Georgian authorities, an extradition request was submitted to them, which was granted after due legal process,” the spokesperson said.
The issuance of an Interpol Red Notice played a crucial role in tracking Garg’s movements overseas. Following his arrest by Georgian authorities, Indian agencies pursued the extradition process through diplomatic and judicial channels, ultimately securing his return to face trial in India.
Officials believe the extradition demonstrates the growing effectiveness of international cooperation in tackling fugitives involved in organised crime. The Haryana Police are expected to question Garg regarding pending cases and investigate whether he maintained links with criminal networks while abroad.
The successful operation is also being viewed as a strong message to fugitives attempting to escape Indian law by taking refuge overseas, reaffirming the commitment of investigative agencies to bring wanted accused back to face justice.
