Bengal Cricketer Abhishek Porel Arrested in Hooghly Over Alleged Promise-of-Marriage Case
Bengal cricketer and Delhi Capitals player Abhishek Porel was arrested by police in Hooghly district following allegations that he had sexual relations with a woman on the promise of marriage. He is expected to be produced before a court in Chinsurah.
KOLKATA: Bengal cricketer Abhishek Porel, who has represented Delhi Capitals in the Indian Premier League (IPL), was arrested by police in Hooghly district on Monday night following allegations that he had sexual relations with a woman on the promise of marriage.
According to Hooghly (Rural) Superintendent of Police Kunar Bhushan Singh, a case had been registered against Porel and a court had issued an order for his arrest. Police subsequently arrested him late Monday night.
Porel was arrested by the Mogra police and is expected to be produced before a court in Chinsurah on Tuesday. The investigation into the allegations is continuing.
The allegations remain subject to the legal process, and the arrest does not by itself establish guilt.
