Delhi Traffic Police penalised more than 11,800 motorists during a special three-hour enforcement drive conducted across New Delhi, targeting improper parking and wrong-side driving.

Officials said the intensive operation was carried out on Saturday across all traffic ranges and districts as part of efforts to reduce congestion and improve road safety in the national capital.

According to police, the campaign focused mainly on two common violations that frequently lead to traffic snarls and accidents — illegal parking and driving on the wrong side of the road.

Authorities said such violations significantly disrupt traffic flow and increase the risk of collisions.

The special drive forms part of broader traffic management measures aimed at ensuring smoother movement of vehicles and stricter compliance with road rules.
