Brain-Dead 16-Year-Old Saves Multiple Lives in Haryana
Rohtak: A 16-year-old brain-dead boy at PGIMS Rohtak has given a new lease of life to nearly six people through organ donation in a remarkable humanitarian gesture.
Officials said this is the third such organ donation case reported at the institute within a month.
Organs retrieved included the kidneys, liver, lungs, heart and corneas, which will be used to help critically ill patients awaiting transplants.
The liver was sent to Institute of Liver and Biliary Sciences for transplantation.
One kidney was airlifted by the Indian Army to Command Hospital Panchkula through a specially created green corridor to ensure timely delivery.
Medical authorities praised the family’s decision, saying the donation would save multiple lives and inspire greater awareness about organ donation.
The incident highlights the growing importance of cadaver organ donation in addressing shortages of life-saving transplants in India.
