The Rajasthan Anti-Corruption Bureau on Thursday arrested former minister Mahesh Joshi from his residence in Jaipur in connection with the alleged Rs 900-crore Jal Jeevan Mission scam, officials said.

The arrest was carried out by the ACB’s Special Investigation Team during an early morning operation at Joshi’s residence in San Colony near Jaipur Railway Station.

According to officials, the investigation relates to alleged financial irregularities and corruption linked to the implementation of the Jal Jeevan Mission in Rajasthan.

This is not the first legal setback for the former minister. Directorate of Enforcement had earlier arrested Joshi in April 2025 in a money laundering case associated with the same alleged scam.

He remained in judicial custody for nearly seven months before securing bail from the Supreme Court of India in December last year.

The Anti-Corruption Bureau is currently probing multiple aspects of the alleged scam, including tender allocations, financial transactions and possible misuse of public funds under the drinking water supply scheme.
