Thunderstorms and Lightning Likely in South, East and Northeast India
India Meteorological Department has issued alerts for heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds across several parts of the country, including southern, eastern and northeastern states.
The India Meteorological Department on Thursday forecast heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning over several southern states, including Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Kerala, Mahe and South Interior Karnataka.
The weather department also predicted thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds over the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Konkan, Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh and Marathwada.

According to IMD, similar weather conditions are expected over northeastern states including Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura, along with Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim.
The department further stated that thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds are likely over Delhi, Haryana, Chandigarh, Punjab, Assam, Meghalaya, Coastal Karnataka, East Rajasthan and Gangetic West Bengal.

States including Jharkhand, Odisha, Telangana, Uttarakhand and Arunachal Pradesh are also expected to witness unstable weather conditions with thunderstorms and lightning activity.
Meteorologists have advised residents in affected areas to remain cautious during thunderstorm activity, avoid open spaces during lightning, and monitor official weather bulletins for updates.
