At least 24 people lost their lives and several others sustained injuries after a powerful explosion ripped through a railway line near Chaman Phatak railway station in Quetta on Sunday. The incident triggered panic in the area and prompted an immediate large-scale emergency response.

According to officials, the blast caused partial damage to a train and also damaged around 10 vehicles parked nearby. Railway authorities said the Jaffar Express, which was scheduled to travel to Peshawar, was halted at Quetta Railway Station as a precautionary measure following the explosion.

Authorities declared an emergency in government hospitals across Quetta, with doctors, paramedics, and medical staff urgently called in to treat the injured victims. Rescue teams and security personnel rushed to the scene soon after the blast to assist survivors and secure the area.

Babar Yousafzai, spokesperson to the home minister, stated that all relevant institutions had been placed on high alert following the explosion. Security agencies have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the blast and identify those responsible.

The province of Balochistan has witnessed repeated incidents of violence and insurgent attacks in recent years, particularly targeting security forces, transport infrastructure, and public locations. The latest attack has once again raised concerns about security in the region.
