Enforcement Directorate arrests Punjab Industries Minister after raids linked to alleged GST fraud investigation
A court in Gurugram has remanded Sanjeev Arora to seven days of custody of the Enforcement Directorate in connection with a money laundering investigation linked to an alleged GST fraud case.
Officials said the 62-year-old minister was arrested on Saturday evening from his official residence in Chandigarh after the Enforcement Directorate conducted searches at multiple locations connected to the case.
The agency also carried out raids at premises associated with Hampton Sky Realty Ltd in Gurugram as part of the ongoing probe. Investigators are examining suspected financial irregularities and alleged laundering of funds generated through fraudulent GST transactions.
Following the court proceedings, the Enforcement Directorate secured seven days of custodial interrogation to further investigate the money trail, financial records, and business links connected to the case.
In a statement, Hampton Sky Realty Ltd said it had full faith in the legal system and was cooperating with all statutory authorities during the investigation.
The arrest has triggered political reactions in Punjab, with opposition parties demanding transparency in the probe while the ruling establishment has maintained that the law should take its course.
