Andhra CM Backs Fuel Conservation Drive With Convoy Cut

N. Chandrababu Naidu has ordered a 50 per cent reduction in the number of vehicles used in his convoy during district tours, according to a statement issued by the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister’s Office.

The decision was taken in line with Narendra Modi’s recent appeal for fuel conservation and responsible expenditure amid rising global energy concerns linked to the ongoing conflict in West Asia.

During a review meeting with the Director General of Police and senior intelligence officials, Naidu instructed authorities to immediately reduce the size of his convoy during official visits across districts.

The Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister also urged ministers, public representatives, and other VIPs to minimise the use of official vehicles and adopt similar austerity measures in keeping with the Prime Minister’s call for restraint.

The move comes at a time when global crude oil prices remain volatile due to geopolitical tensions, prompting governments and institutions to focus on reducing fuel consumption and unnecessary expenditure.

Prime Minister Modi had earlier encouraged citizens and public officials to adopt energy-saving practices such as carpooling, using public transport, increasing electric vehicle usage, and reducing dependence on petrol and diesel.
