The Nainital High Court has granted bail to Abdul Malik, the principal accused in the Banbhoolpura violence case linked to the unrest in Haldwani.

The order was passed by a division bench comprising Justice Alok Kumar Verma and Justice Alok Mehra after hearing arguments in the matter. During the proceedings, the court sought clarification from the state government regarding other criminal cases registered against Malik.

In response, the government informed the court that seven additional cases had emerged during the investigation. It stated that Malik had already been acquitted in some of those cases, while the status of others could not be conclusively verified. Citing the lack of sufficient confirmation on the pending matters, the court decided to grant bail.

Malik had been named in four separate cases related to the Banbhoolpura violence. He had previously obtained bail in one case, and with this latest order, he has now secured bail in the remaining three cases as well.
