Cross-Border Illegal Arms Smuggling Network Busted in Punjab, Three Arrested
The Punjab Police has busted a cross-border arms smuggling module with the arrest of three persons and the recovery of six pistols from their possession, an official said on Tuesday.
Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav, in a post on X, said that In a major breakthrough, Amritsar Commissionerate Police busts a cross-border illegal arms smuggling module, apprehends three accused, and recovers six sophisticated pistols.
Preliminary investigation reveals that the accused were in contact with Pakistan-based smugglers through social media platforms, facilitating the smuggling of illegal arms and supplying them to criminal elements. The consignments were retrieved and further supplied to criminal elements across Punjab. An FIR has been registered at PS Cantonment, Amritsar under relevant provisions of the Arms Act. Further investigation is underway to establish forward and backward linkages and dismantle the entire network.
