The Jammu Division of Northern Railway has achieved a significant freight milestone with the arrival of the first vermicompost fertiliser consignment to south Kashmir’s Anantnag from Ambala.

According to Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Uchit Singhal, the shipment was facilitated by the division’s Business Development Unit and transported through piecemeal traffic, reflecting efforts to support small-scale traders and expand freight access.

The consignment consisted of 1,200 bags of vermicompost weighing around 60 tonnes. It was dispatched by Sikri Farms in Ambala and successfully delivered to Kashmir, boosting agricultural supply chains in the region.
