Ride-hailing platform Uber on Thursday announced the expansion of its bike taxi services to seven more cities in West Bengal, as part of its broader nationwide expansion strategy.

Uber Bike operations have been launched in Asansol, Kharagpur, Murshidabad, Bardhaman, Panskura, Habra and Malda, according to a company statement.

The company said the bike taxi service is intended to provide commuters with an affordable option for short-distance travel and last-mile connectivity.

The expansion is also expected to create flexible earning opportunities for local drivers, allowing more people in the newly covered cities to participate as drivers on the platform.

With the latest expansion, Uber is extending its bike-based mobility services beyond major urban centres to additional cities across West Bengal.
