India to Lead G20 Satellite Launch in 2027: ISRO Chairman

Indian Space Research Organisation Chairman V. Narayanan has said that the proposed G20 satellite, designed to study climate change, air pollution, and weather systems, is expected to be launched in 2027.

Addressing scientists from Defence Research and Development Organisation, ISRO, and the Aeronautical Society of India in Hyderabad, Narayanan said India is taking the lead role in launching the satellite for G20 nations.

He also said ISRO is working towards sending a human to the moon by 2040. According to him, achieving the goal would place India among leading spacefaring nations in launcher systems, satellite technology, space applications, and human spaceflight capability.

Narayanan further said ISRO is developing a 2.2-metre diameter, 100 mm thick titanium vessel for Samudrayaan, part of India’s Deep Ocean Mission. He also noted that India was the first country to successfully place more than 100 satellites using a single rocket without collision.
