A Bengaluru family’s attempt to make a viral video on social media has shocked the entire country. A woman, who planned to make a video mocking the unavailability of bus and train tickets to her hometown during the Ugadi and Ramzan festivals and the hike in ticket prices, tied her elderly father in a large sack and carried him to the courier office.

The woman and her family, including her husband, had come to a private courier office in Bengaluru’s Vyakravala area and were handed a large package and asked the courier to send it to Mangaluru. When the staff asked what was in the package, they were evasive without giving a proper answer. When the staff, who were suspicious, opened the package and saw an old man inside, his hands and feet tied, suffocating and unable to breathe, they were horrified.

The staff who rescued the old man immediately informed the police. During the investigation, the woman confessed that she did this to make a comedy video saying, “It’s easy to send people by courier because there are no tickets available.” The police sternly warned the woman and her family for behaving in a way that endangered the old man’s life, and later released them after receiving a letter of apology. “Don’t play with human lives in the name of taking reels,” the police have issued a stern warning.
