Rubio Briefs PM on Expanding India-US Bilateral Ties

Marco Rubio met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on Saturday during his ongoing visit to India.

According to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), Secretary Rubio briefed the Prime Minister on the continued progress in India-US bilateral cooperation across multiple sectors, including defence, strategic technologies, trade and investment, energy security, connectivity, education, and people-to-people ties.

Rubio also shared the United States’ perspective on several regional and global developments, including the evolving situation in West Asia.

During the meeting, Prime Minister Modi reiterated India’s consistent support for peace initiatives and stressed the importance of resolving conflicts through dialogue and diplomacy. He also requested Rubio to convey his warm greetings to US President Donald Trump and expressed hope for continued engagement between the two leaders.

External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and National Security Adviser Ajit Doval were also present during the discussions.

The meeting comes amid growing strategic cooperation between India and the United States in areas such as defence partnerships, emerging technologies, Indo-Pacific security, and economic collaboration. Rubio’s visit also includes participation in upcoming Quadrilateral Security Dialogue (QUAD) engagements hosted by India.
