Security forces have seized at least 20 firearms and ammunition during two separate operations in Imphal West district, police officials said on Monday.

According to a police statement, a major cache of 16 weapons and ammunition was recovered from the Langol hill range under the jurisdiction of Lamphel Police Station on Sunday.

The seized items included ten pistols, one INSAS rifle, a .303 rifle, a detonator, and five live rounds of ammunition.

Security personnel carried out the operations as part of ongoing efforts to recover illegal weapons and maintain law and order in sensitive areas of the state.

Officials said the search operations were conducted based on intelligence inputs regarding the presence of hidden arms in the hill range area.
