Trump Announces Indefinite Iran Ceasefire Extension, Keeps Naval Blockade in Place

Donald Trump has announced an indefinite extension of the ceasefire with Iran to allow both sides to continue peace talks aimed at ending the conflict.

The announcement came as the existing two-week truce was due to expire. In a post on Truth Social, Trump said the move was being made at the request of Pakistan.

However, Trump also said the United States Navy would continue its blockade of Iranian ports and coastal areas until Tehran presents what he described as a “unified proposal.”

There was no immediate confirmation from Iran or US ally Israel regarding the extension. Iran-affiliated Tasnim News Agency reported that Tehran had not requested an extension and repeated warnings to break the blockade by force.

Earlier, the White House reportedly put on hold Vice President JD Vance’s expected trip to Islamabad for a second round of talks.

Meanwhile, the United States Department of the Treasury announced sanctions on 14 individuals, entities, and aircraft linked to Iran, targeting networks involved in procuring and transporting weapons and components. Those sanctioned were said to be based in Iran, Turkey, and the United Arab Emirates
