Elaborate security measures have been deployed across Kolkata ahead of the swearing-in ceremony of the new state government scheduled to take place at the Brigade Parade Ground on Saturday.

The event is expected to witness the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi along with chief ministers and senior leaders from several BJP-ruled states.

In view of the high-profile gathering, Kolkata Police on Friday issued multiple notifications announcing traffic diversions and stringent airspace restrictions around the venue.

According to police directives, the operation of drones, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), balloons, glider aircraft and all forms of small and non-scheduled aircraft has been prohibited within a three-kilometre radius of Brigade Parade Ground up to an altitude of 500 metres.

The restrictions will remain in force from 6 am to 6 pm on May 9.

Police officials stated that the measures are intended to prevent and mitigate any potential security threats and ensure comprehensive protection for visiting VVIPs, dignitaries and attendees during the ceremony.
