Mamata Claims Voter List Victory as Campaign Heats Up
Campaigning for the second phase of the West Bengal Assembly Election 2026 has intensified, with senior leaders of major political parties holding rallies, roadshows, and public meetings across the state to woo voters.
Senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader and Narendra Modi is scheduled to address several rallies today in support of party candidates.
Speaking at Jamalpur yesterday, senior BJP leader Amit Shah said that if voted to power, the BJP would implement the Uniform Civil Code in the state, introduce the Seventh Pay Commission, and allow women free travel on state-run buses. He later addressed a rally at Shyampur and took part in roadshows at Ramrajatala and Tollygunge.
Senior BJP leader Rajnath Singh also campaigned at Goghat and Arambagh, promising ₹3,000 monthly assistance for women and filling vacant government posts.

Other BJP leaders including J.P. Nadda, Yogi Adityanath, Himanta Biswa Sarma and Nitin Nabin also campaigned in different constituencies.
On the other side, All India Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee addressed a meeting at Uttarpara, claiming she fought in the Supreme Court of India and restored 32 lakh deleted names to the voter list. She later joined a roadshow at Birati and a padyatra in Bhabanipur.
TMC leader Abhishek Banerjee, speaking at Basirhat, alleged that the Centre had withheld funds meant for the state’s development.
Meanwhile, Indian National Congress leader Rahul Gandhi addressed meetings at Serampore, Metiabruz and Shahid Minar, where he criticised both Narendra Modi and Mamata Banerjee.
