Secret Service Rushes Trump to Safety After Shots Fired
In the United States, President Donald Trump was evacuated from the White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner at the Washington Hilton after gunshots were reported near the venue’s main security screening area.
According to officials, Trump, First Lady Melania Trump, Vice President JD Vance and other protected officials were moved to a secure location and were unharmed.
Authorities said a suspect armed with multiple weapons attempted to breach security and opened fire. The individual was quickly taken into custody. One Secret Service officer was struck in an area protected by a ballistic vest and is expected to recover.

Later, President Trump praised the response of the United States Secret Service and law enforcement agencies, saying the event would be rescheduled within 30 days.
The incident caused panic among attendees, with guests taking cover before the ballroom was cleared. The annual dinner, attended by journalists, lawmakers and public figures, was subsequently halted.
