Final Phase of Bengal Elections Today, 142 Seats Up for Grabs
Voting for the high-stakes West Bengal Assembly Election 2026 will conclude on Wednesday as more than 3.22 crore voters are eligible to cast their ballots in the second and final phase covering 142 assembly seats across West Bengal.
The phase will determine the electoral fate of 1,448 candidates, including 1,228 men and 220 women. The first phase of polling held on April 23 recorded a turnout of 91.78 per cent.

According to the Election Commission of India, the electorate includes 3.21 crore general voters and nearly 40,000 service voters. Among them are 1.64 crore male voters, 1.57 crore female voters and 792 third-gender electors.
More than 4.12 lakh voters are in the 18–19 age group, while over 3,200 voters are aged 100 years and above. The state also has over 57,000 persons with disabilities eligible to vote.

To ensure smooth polling, authorities have set up 41,001 polling stations, including 39,301 main stations and 1,700 auxiliary stations. These include 8,845 all-women managed booths, 13 PWD-managed stations and 258 model polling stations. Webcasting arrangements have been made at all booths.
Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is contesting from Bhabanipur, while Suvendu Adhikari is contesting from Nandigram.
The results will be declared on May 4 along with election outcomes in Assam, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.
