Ahead of the second phase of the West Bengal Assembly Election, Kolkata Police Commissioner Ajay Kumar Nand said extensive security arrangements have been put in place across the city to ensure peaceful polling.
He said a total of 272 companies have been deployed for election duty in Kolkata, along with additional personnel stationed at polling booths. Quick Response Teams (QRT), Flying Squad Teams (FST), Static Surveillance Teams (SST), and multiple patrol units have also been activated.
The commissioner added that motorcycle patrols are being used to quickly access narrow lanes and slum areas so that security personnel can respond immediately to any untoward incident.
Authorities have intensified vigilance across the city as voters prepare to cast their ballots in the second phase of polling.
