Bengal Poll Race Heats Up with Mega Rallies Across State
Campaigning for the second phase of the West Bengal Assembly elections has intensified, with leaders from all major parties holding rallies, roadshows, and public meetings across the state ahead of polling on Wednesday.
Addressing a rally in Jamalpur, senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader Amit Shah promised that if voted to power, the party would implement the Uniform Civil Code and the Seventh Pay Commission recommendations. He also promised free bus travel for women and reiterated support for the Matua community.

At a public meeting in Hooghly, senior BJP leader Rajnath Singh pledged ₹3,000 assistance for women and promised to fill vacant government posts. He criticised the Trinamool Congress slogan “Maa, Maati, Manush”.
Other BJP leaders including J.P. Nadda, Nitin Navin and Yogi Adityanath also campaigned in Burdwan and North 24 Parganas. Yogi Adityanath recalled Bengal’s role in India’s freedom struggle and expressed confidence of political change.
On the other side, senior All India Trinamool Congress leaders Mamata Banerjee and Abhishek Banerjee highlighted the party’s legal battle that restored 32 lakh names to the voter list and assured people there was no need to fear exclusions. They also accused the Centre of withholding development funds.
Meanwhile, campaigning in Srirampur, senior Indian National Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said his party remains committed to the Constitution and unity, while accusing the BJP of pursuing politics of hatred and division.
