Heatwave Tightens Grip Across Odisha on Saturday
Odisha continued to reel under heatwave conditions on Saturday, with at least 17 places in the state recording maximum temperatures of 40 degrees Celsius and above, officials said.
According to the evening bulletin of the Bhubaneswar Meteorological Centre, Jharsuguda was the hottest place in the state at 44.1°C, which was 2.9°C above normal.
Titlagarh followed closely at 44°C.
Other places that recorded temperatures above 40°C included Bolangir at 43.5°C, Nuapada at 43°C, Sundergarh at 42.8°C, and Rourkela, Sambalpur and Hirakud at 42.6°C each.
Meanwhile, Bhawanipatna and Boudh recorded 42°C.
Authorities have advised residents to stay hydrated, avoid direct sunlight during peak afternoon hours, and take precautions against heat-related illnesses.
