New CDS to Lead India’s Military Theaterisation Drive
General NS Raja Subramani has assumed office as India’s new Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), succeeding General Anil Chauhan. His key priorities include implementing military theaterisation and strengthening integration among the Army, Navy, and Air Force.
General NS Raja Subramani on Sunday assumed charge as India’s new Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), becoming the country’s senior-most military commander.

Key Priority: Military Theaterisation
One of Gen Subramani’s most important responsibilities as CDS will be the implementation of India’s ambitious military theaterisation plan.
The initiative seeks to create integrated theatre commands by bringing the Army, Navy, and Air Force under unified operational structures for specific geographical or strategic areas.
The objective is to:

- Improve operational efficiency.
- Ensure optimal utilisation of military resources.
- Strengthen India’s war-fighting capability.
Distinguished Military Career
Gen Subramani brings more than four decades of military experience to the role.
