Political Controversy Over ADM Death Case Could See New Investigation
The Kerala government is expected to consider transferring the investigation into the death of ADM Naveen Babu to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), following a request from his family and growing concerns over the ongoing police probe.
The UDF government in Kerala is likely to hand over the investigation into the death of ADM Naveen Babu to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), according to Congress leaders.
Pazhakulam Madhu said on Sunday that Chief Minister V D Satheesan had assured Naveen Babu’s widow that her request for a CBI inquiry would be considered.
According to Madhu, the assurance was given during a meeting between the Chief Minister and Babu’s widow at the State Assembly office on May 29.

Cabinet Decision Expected
The Congress MLA indicated that the matter is likely to be taken up at the next meeting of the state cabinet, where a final decision regarding the transfer of the investigation may be made.
“A decision is expected at the next Cabinet meeting,” Madhu said.
Family Seeks Independent Investigation
According to the MLA, Naveen Babu’s family approached the Chief Minister seeking intervention because they were dissatisfied with the progress and findings of the police investigation.
The family reportedly believes that a probe by a central agency would ensure greater transparency and public confidence in the investigation.
Political Controversy
The death of ADM Naveen Babu became a major political issue in Kerala during 2024, triggering sharp exchanges between political parties and raising questions about the circumstances surrounding the case.
The demand for a CBI inquiry has been supported by sections of the opposition and others who have called for an independent and comprehensive investigation.
If approved by the cabinet, the case would be formally recommended for transfer to the CBI, which would then conduct a fresh probe into the matter.
