Social Media Creators Arrested in West Bengal Following Complaint Over Video
Police in West Bengal arrested two online content creators from Dinhata in Cooch Behar district for allegedly uploading a viral video containing objectionable remarks against Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari. Authorities said the arrests were made after complaints were received regarding the content of the video.
Two online content creators were arrested from Dinhata in Cooch Behar district of West Bengal for allegedly posting a video containing offensive remarks targeting Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari, police said on Thursday.
According to a senior police officer, the duo was apprehended on Wednesday after complaints were filed alleging that the viral video included derogatory and objectionable language directed at the chief minister.
Following the complaints, the West Bengal Police initiated an investigation through the Dinhata police. Officials traced the accused and subsequently arrested them from the Dinhata area.
Police are examining the video content, digital records, and social media activity linked to the case as part of the ongoing probe. Authorities have not yet disclosed the specific legal sections invoked against the accused.
The incident has once again drawn attention to the increasing scrutiny of social media content and online expression, particularly content involving political leaders and public figures. Officials stated that further investigation is underway to determine whether additional individuals were involved in creating or circulating the video.
