Kolkata Police to Take Legal Action Over Fake Advisory Circulation
Kolkata Police has termed a circulating advisory in the name of the Commissioner of Police as false and misleading, assuring citizens that the law and order situation remains normal.
Kolkata Police on Thursday clarified that a viral “advisory” being circulated in the name of the city’s Commissioner of Police is fake and misleading.
In an official statement, the police said that the law and order situation within Kolkata Police jurisdiction remains completely normal and is under continuous and vigilant monitoring by authorities.
The statement further warned that strict legal action is being initiated against individuals responsible for spreading false information and circulating fabricated messages using the name of the Commissioner of Police.
Authorities urged citizens not to believe or share unverified content on social media or messaging platforms and advised people to depend only on official communication channels for authentic updates and public advisories.
The clarification comes amid heightened political and social tensions in parts of Kolkata and surrounding regions following recent incidents of post-poll unrest and violence.
Cybercrime and misinformation monitoring units are reportedly tracking the origin and circulation of the fake advisory as part of the ongoing investigation.
