Odisha, Gangetic West Bengal Brace for Extremely Heavy Rainfall

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast the formation of a low-pressure area over the North Bay of Bengal within the next 12 hours, which is expected to bring extremely heavy rainfall to Odisha and Gangetic West Bengal tomorrow.
The Weather Department has also forecast heavy rainfall conditions in Karnataka, East Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Karaikal, Puducherry, the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Kerala, Goa and Rajasthan during the day.
Similar weather conditions are expected to continue over Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Madhya Maharashtra, Uttarakhand and the northeastern parts of India until August 15.
According to the IMD forecast, Andhra Pradesh, Gangetic West Bengal, Interior Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal are also likely to experience thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds during the next two days.
The forecast indicates a period of active monsoon weather across several parts of the country, with particularly intense rainfall conditions expected over Odisha and Gangetic West Bengal following the development of the low-pressure system over the Bay of Bengal.
