India Records Strong Growth in Coal Output and Dispatch During Last Month
India’s coal supply to the power sector remains stable, supported by significant increases in coal production, dispatch and receipts during the last month. The Ministry of Coal has reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring uninterrupted fuel availability to meet the country’s growing energy demand.
The Ministry of Coal has stated that the country’s coal supply position for the power sector continues to remain comfortable, supported by strong growth in production, dispatch and overall coal availability during the last month. The steady supply is expected to help meet the increasing fuel requirements of thermal power plants across the country.
According to the ministry, overall coal production during the previous month reached over 69 million tonnes (MT), compared to more than 64 MT during the corresponding period last year. Meanwhile, coal dispatch recorded an even stronger performance, rising to over 86 MT, up from more than 73 MT in the same period last year, registering a growth of over 18 percent.
The ministry reiterated its commitment to ensuring uninterrupted and adequate coal supply to all consumers, with particular emphasis on the power sector. It said sustained improvements in production and logistics will continue to support the nation’s expanding energy requirements and ensure reliable electricity generation.
