Heavy Rain Affects Roads, Power and Water Supply Across Himachal Pradesh

Persistent monsoon rainfall continues to affect normal life across Himachal Pradesh, with landslides and falling stones disrupting movement at several locations. Residents are also facing problems related to power and drinking water supply.
The Mandi district administration has suspended traffic completely since last night on National Highway-21 between Mandi and Kullu and National Highway-154 between Mandi and Jogindernagar, citing the risk of landslides and falling stones caused by heavy rainfall.
According to the State Emergency Operations Centre, 204 other roads across Himachal Pradesh are also blocked. In addition, 45 power transformers and 82 drinking water supply schemes have been affected by the adverse weather.
The Meteorological Centre, Shimla, has issued an Orange Alert for heavy rainfall in six districts today — Kangra, Mandi, Kullu, Shimla, Chamba and Lahaul-Spiti.
The state government has urged residents to remain vigilant, maintain a safe distance from landslide-prone areas, rivers and streams, and follow safety advisories issued by local authorities.
