Technical Institutions Seek October 30 Admission Deadline Over Student Uncertainty
The Federation of Self-Financing Technical Institutions (FSFTI) has urged the UGC, AICTE, Ministry of Education and other regulators to extend the admission deadline for technical and professional courses from August 14 to October 30, citing delays caused by floods, examination results, counselling uncertainty and unclear allied healthcare norms.
The Federation of Self-Financing Technical Institutions (FSFTI) has urged the University Grants Commission (UGC), All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), Ministry of Education and other regulatory authorities to extend the admission deadline for technical and professional courses from August 14 to October 30, 2026.
According to FSFTI, delays in examinations and declaration of results, along with disruptions caused by floods, counselling uncertainty and unclear norms for allied healthcare courses, have affected students’ admission decisions.
FSFTI has therefore sought additional time so that students who are still awaiting examination results, counselling schedules or clarity on applicable regulations are not disadvantaged during the admission process.
At present, the admission deadline for courses regulated by the UGC and AICTE is August 14, 2026. In comparison, the Pharmacy Council of India has permitted admissions until September 15, 2026, creating differing timelines across various professional and technical programmes.
The federation’s demand for a common extension until October 30 is aimed at giving institutions and students additional time to complete the admission process amid the prevailing uncertainties.
