Computer-Based IISER Aptitude Test Completed Under Tight Security

The IISER Aptitude Test 2026 (IAT) for admission to the five-year BS-MS programme across the country’s Indian Institutes of Science Education and Research (IISERs) was successfully conducted on Sunday.

The examination was held for admission to the 2026–27 academic session across seven IISER campuses. In a notable development, IISER Berhampur conducted the examination for the first time this year, marking an important step in its growing role within the IISER network.

The three-hour computer-based test (CBT) was conducted from 9:00 am to 12:00 noon at 736 examination centres across the country. Authorities implemented extensive security and monitoring measures to ensure the smooth and transparent conduct of the examination.

The IISER Aptitude Test serves as a key gateway for students aspiring to pursue advanced education in science and research. The integrated BS-MS programme offered by IISERs is designed to nurture scientific talent and prepare students for careers in research, academia, innovation, and technology.

Candidates appearing for the examination were tested on subjects including Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Biology. The entrance examination plays a crucial role in selecting students for some of India’s most prestigious science education institutions, known for their emphasis on interdisciplinary learning and research-oriented training.

Officials reported that the examination was conducted smoothly at centres across the country. Following the completion of the test, candidates now await the release of answer keys, results, and subsequent counselling and admission procedures.

The successful conduct of IAT 2026 highlights the continued popularity of IISER programmes among students seeking careers in scientific research and higher education.
