Security Forces Crack Down on Militant Infrastructure in Ukhrul

Security forces carried out coordinated operations in Manipur, destroying 23 illegal bunkers in Ukhrul district and seizing 18 improvised explosive devices (IEDs) in Tengnoupal district, according to a police statement.

The bunkers were dismantled on Thursday in several hill villages, including Mongkot Chepu, Shongphel, Mullam, Sirarakhong, and Ringue, located under the Litan police station jurisdiction.

During the operations, security personnel also recovered a 12-bore pump-action gun, 17 cartridges of various calibres, and 111 empty bullet casings, indicating prior militant activity in the region.

Officials said the action was part of ongoing efforts to curb illegal fortifications and maintain law and order in sensitive areas of the state.

Authorities continue to conduct search and clearance operations to neutralise threats and restore normalcy in affected regions.
