FIR Filed Over Alleged Ragging at Pune Law College
Pune Police have registered a case against five students of a reputed law college for allegedly ragging a junior student, more than a year after he first approached the institution authorities with a complaint.
Officials said a First Information Report (FIR) was registered on Saturday at Deccan Police Station under the Maharashtra Prohibition of Ragging Act.
According to police, the college had initially conducted an internal inquiry into the matter, but the complainant was not satisfied with the outcome.
The student later escalated the issue through the University Grants Commission anti-ragging mechanism and reportedly made repeated follow-ups.
Based on the complaint and subsequent developments, police initiated legal action against the accused students.
Further investigation is underway to determine the full circumstances of the alleged ragging incident.
The case has again drawn attention to anti-ragging safeguards and grievance redressal mechanisms in higher educational institutions.
