Blasts Near Army, BSF Premises in Punjab Trigger High Alert
Explosions in Amritsar and Jalandhar cause panic; one delivery worker injured, probe underway
Two explosions outside security installations in Punjab—one in Amritsar and another in Jalandhar—have put security forces on high alert, officials said.
In Amritsar, the blast occurred outside a campus of the Border Security Force (BSF), adjoining Army establishments in the heavily guarded Khasa Cantonment area, along the road leading to the Attari border.
In Jalandhar, an explosion took place near the main gate of the BSF’s Frontier Headquarters. According to police, the incident occurred after a delivery worker had handed over a parcel to BSF personnel. As he returned to his scooter, the vehicle exploded, causing significant damage to nearby poles and infrastructure.
The delivery worker sustained minor injuries in the incident. No casualties have been reported in either blast, but both incidents have raised serious security concerns.
Police have cordoned off both sites, and teams from the Bomb Disposal Squad and forensic departments have collected samples for analysis. Investigations are underway to determine the cause and nature of the explosions.
