Anti-Maoist Operation Yields Cash, Explosives and Heavy Weapons
Massive Haul Seized During Anti-Maoist Operations in Bijapur Under ‘Mission 2026’
Security forces have recovered more than ₹65 lakh in cash, along with a large cache of weapons and explosive materials, from an old Maoist dump site in Bijapur district during an anti-insurgency operation conducted under “Mission 2026”.
According to P. Sunderraj, the operation was carried out jointly by multiple security agencies, including the District Reserve Guard (DRG), Special Task Force (STF), Bastar Fighters, COBRA, Border Security Force and Indo-Tibetan Border Police.
Officials said the recovered arsenal included sophisticated weapons such as Self-Loading Rifles (SLRs), Light Machine Guns (LMGs), ammunition, and explosive materials allegedly hidden by Maoist groups.
Sunderraj stated that continuous operations over the last several months across the Bastar division have significantly weakened Maoist networks in the region. He said intelligence gathered from surrendered Maoist cadres, local informants, and residents played a key role in tracing the dump site.
Security forces have intensified search and combing operations across Maoist-affected areas over the past one-and-a-half months as part of broader efforts to dismantle insurgent infrastructure and restore security in the region.
Officials described the latest recovery as a major success in ongoing counter-insurgency operations aimed at disrupting Maoist financing, logistics, and armed capabilities.
