29 Cases, 100 Arrested as Kerala HC Reviews Hartal Unrest
Kerala High Court on Tuesday took up a case on its own motion over incidents of violence reported during the statewide hartal called by various Dalit organisations seeking justice in the death of Nithin Raj.
The court issued notices to those who called the hartal and directed the State Police Chief to submit a report on violence and disruption reported from different parts of Kerala during the protest.
In a report submitted later in the day, the State Police Chief informed the court that 29 cases had been registered and 100 people arrested in connection with offences allegedly committed by activists participating in the hartal.

The hartal was organised by Dalit groups demanding justice over the death of Nithin Raj, which had sparked protests across the state.
