Jindal (India) Limited on Tuesday announced the completion of its Rs 1,500-crore capital expenditure programme in West Bengal with the launch of a new high-speed continuous colour coating line at its manufacturing complex in Howrah district.

The latest commissioning marks another major milestone in the company’s large-scale expansion initiative aimed at enhancing manufacturing capacity and technological capabilities in coated steel products.

The development comes just months after the company operationalised several other facilities in February, including a galvanising coating line, a cold rolling mill, and a pickling unit as part of the broader expansion project.

The company manufactures coated flat steel products, pipes, and aluminium foil from its production facilities in Howrah and is considered one of the prominent players in the steel processing segment.

Officials said the new colour coating line is expected to improve operational efficiency, production speed, and product quality while helping the company cater to growing domestic and industrial demand.

The investment also highlights increasing industrial activity in West Bengal’s manufacturing sector, particularly in metal processing and infrastructure-related industries.

Industry observers noted that expansion in steel processing capacity could support sectors such as construction, infrastructure, automotive, and consumer appliances, where coated steel products are widely used.

The completion of the capital expenditure programme is also expected to generate employment opportunities and strengthen the industrial ecosystem in the Howrah region.

The company has not disclosed additional future expansion plans but indicated that the new facilities would significantly enhance overall production capabilities and market competitiveness.
