Foreign Portfolio Investors (FPIs) continued their buying spree in Indian equities during the first week of August, investing ₹12,921 crore in the domestic stock market so far this month, according to the latest depository data.

The buying momentum, which gained strength in July, has continued into August, supported by resilient domestic economic fundamentals and strong quarterly earnings reports from Indian companies. The sustained inflows indicate continued foreign investor interest in India’s equity market.

The debt market, however, witnessed a mixed trend. FPIs invested ₹622 crore in debt securities through the General Limit route during the period under review.

At the same time, the Fully Accessible Route and Voluntary Retention Route recorded combined outflows of more than ₹350 crore during the first week of August. The contrasting movement across different debt investment routes indicates a more selective approach by foreign investors in India’s fixed-income market.
