Defence Ministry Pushes Aatmanirbhar Bharat with New Tank Deal
The Ministry of Defence has signed contracts worth around ₹975 crore for the procurement of TRAWL Assemblies for T-72 and T-90 tanks.
The agreements were signed with Bharat Earth Movers Limited and Electro Pneumatics and Hydraulics (India) Pvt. Limited in the presence of Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh in New Delhi.
According to the Ministry, the TRAWL Assembly is critical equipment that will significantly enhance the minefield breaching capability of the Indian Army.
It will help create vehicle-safe lanes through minefields containing anti-tank mines, improving mobility and battlefield operations.
The Ministry said the procurement marks an important step in modernising India’s defence infrastructure and strengthening indigenous manufacturing under the Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative.
Officials added that the project is expected to generate direct and indirect employment opportunities, particularly through MSME participation in component manufacturing.
