Maharashtra Minister Nitesh Rane Gets 1-Month Sentence, Verdict Stayed by Court
In the 2019 case involving allegations of pouring mud on an National Highways Authority of India engineer, a court has acquitted Nitesh Rane and all other accused persons of the main charges.
However, while delivering the verdict, the court convicted Rane in a related offence for allegedly insulting a person in a public place and creating a law-and-order situation. He was sentenced to one month in jail and fined ₹1 lakh.
Soon after the judgment, counsel representing Nitesh Rane moved the court seeking relief, following which the court stayed the conviction order. The case stemmed from an FIR registered against Rane and others in 2019.
