Central, Southern India Brace for Heatwave

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heatwave alert for several parts of central and southern India, warning that Chhattisgarh, East Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, North Interior Karnataka, and Telangana are likely to experience intense heatwave conditions today.

Hot and humid weather is also expected to persist across Andhra Pradesh, Coastal Karnataka, Gangetic West Bengal, Odisha, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal, with similar conditions forecast in Kerala, Mahe, Konkan, Goa, and Gujarat.

Meanwhile, parts of northern and northeastern India are likely to witness thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds, including Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura, as weather patterns remain volatile across the country.
