Fresh Snowfall Delights Tourists in Ladakh

Fresh snowfall in many parts of Ladakh has brought cheer to the visiting tourists who have already arrived here to experience the stunning landscape of white and pink due to the blossom of Apricot  Flowers in different parts of the Union Territory.

The Spring season in Ladakh commenced with more precipitation, as it has witnessed frequent snowfall and sleet in almost every part of the Union Territory.

According to the Meteorological Department, Ladakh, fresh light snowfall in the late morning has been received in eastern Ladakh and the Zojila Drass Axis.

It has temporarily affected the traffic on the Leh- Srinagar National Highway in the afternoon due to low visibility and snowfall accumulation on the roads.

The Met Department has further forecast the possibility of snowfall on Zojila and Drass, on the Leh-Srinagar  National  Highway, on the 7th and 8th of this month.

It has also issued an advisory for commuters to exercise caution as fresh snowfall or rain may trigger avalanches on the roads which pass through Shinkunla and Zojila passes.
