Seoul Meeting Boosts India-Korea Military and Technology Ties

Rajnath Singh on Wednesday announced that India and South Korea have agreed to further strengthen bilateral defence and strategic cooperation following high-level talks held in Seoul.

In a post on social media, the Defence Minister described his meeting with South Korean Defence Minister Ahn Gyu Back as “excellent” and “highly productive”.

According to Rajnath Singh, the discussions focused on deepening cooperation in defence, defence industry collaboration, cyber security, and technological partnerships while reaffirming the shared commitment of both countries toward regional peace and stability.

During the meeting, India and the Republic of Korea exchanged agreements related to defence cyber cooperation, collaboration between the National Defence College of India and the Korea National Defence University, and cooperation in United Nations peacekeeping initiatives.

Officials stated that these agreements are expected to make the India-South Korea strategic partnership broader and more multidimensional.

The discussions also highlighted growing defence-industrial cooperation between the two countries, with both sides exploring opportunities in advanced defence technology, cybersecurity, training, and strategic capability development.

India and South Korea maintain a “Special Strategic Partnership,” which has expanded significantly in recent years across sectors including defence, trade, technology, maritime cooperation, and regional security.

The visit forms part of India’s broader efforts to strengthen strategic partnerships in the Indo-Pacific region amid evolving geopolitical and security challenges.
