Google Rolls Out Enhanced Mental Health Safety Measures for Gemini

MOUNTAIN VIEW: In a major update targeted at user safety, Google has announced the rollout of new mental health safety protocols for its AI assistant, Gemini. The new system is designed to detect subtle cues of distress or mental health crises in user queries and immediately provide “Help Available” cards with localized helpline numbers and professional resources.

The update comes after a series of reports highlighted the need for AI systems to handle sensitive emotional queries with greater empathy and accuracy. Google stated that these measures have been developed in consultation with mental health professionals and NGOs globally. The system is now live in over 40 languages, including Hindi and Tamil, ensuring that users in India have immediate access to support during the ongoing stress caused by the regional conflict and economic shifts.
